Dog Policy
If the guests are convinced they can adhere to the conditions below, a single animal which is well trained and over 1 year old may be accommodated.
These conditions are to avoid damage to the house, allergic responses of subsequent guests and nuisance to neighbours.
The guest must bring all necessary bedding for the dog and only allow it to sleep in the front hallway (the hallway has adequate space to one side of the door)
or possibly in the inglenook fireplace of the lounge.
The dog is only allowed in the downstairs lounge, dining room and kitchen and never in any bedroom.
The dog must not be left alone in the house
The dog must not be allowed in to the house wet, eg just been swimming in the river
The dog must not be allowed to urinate or defaecate in the rear courtyard at all. Any faeces outside the front, on the common land or within 100m of the house must be bagged and disposed of.
A returnable deposit of £50 is made which is forfeit if the above conditions are not adhered to or any damage to the property or furniture is caused by the dog.
You will be asked to demonstrate where the dog where the dog is sleeping during the week. The conditions have been tightened due to the disregard of the previous 'conditions' by the very occasional dog owner.
The environment of Drabblegate River Cottage is excellent for dogs with good walking in the surrounding countryside. The cottage is also excellent for children who wish to play in the rear courtyard and other guests who may be allergic to dog hair/dander, or who find dog smell repulsive. The above conditions are an attempt to balance these interests.
